KARI C103 Rocket Nozzle Extensions Built with MST

September 1, 2026

We're glad to share that LabAM24 has completed delivery of three C103 niobium alloy rocket nozzles to KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute)C103 is a demanding material to work with under any conditions, given its high melting point and sensitivity to oxidation. That difficulty only grows in an environment without an inert chamber.Morphing Shield Technology (MST), our chamber-free LW-DED technology, made it possible. MST enabled the component to be manufactured through near-net-shape manufacturing, minimizing the use and waste of high-cost materials while requiring only minimal post-machining to achieve the final geometry.Photos of the finished nozzles and our C103 mechanical property data below. We're now awaiting the firing test from KARI, and we’re excited to see how this opens the door to more opportunities ahead.Component Dimensions: ⌀150 mm × 70 mm (h) × 1 mm (t)
